Food on Foot to me is a second chance based on results. When someone is really ready to change their situation they will do what is required to make that change happen no matter the task that is asked of them. Food on Foot is truly a hand up and not a hand out.
What I like most about Food on Foot is that it gets results and it works. This program is not dependent on the government; which means no governmental bureaucracy and delays. It started with one man in a truck trying to help and getting it done. Now that same man is still out there helping with some like minded people backing him up for a worthwhile cause.
The first time I was at Food on Foot I stayed around to watch the award ceremony. I saw a young lady get worker of the week, which awarded her a bus pass for a month I believe. I saw this woman break down in tears and it touched my heart that something I take for granted could mean so much to another human being, and the gratitude this lady had for that bus pass was just so real and heart felt. It was amazing.
